THE PROJECT
What we did.
We added topsoil, installed sod and a French drain along the house, and shaped the yard to direct water away from the house.
For the walkway, we compacted the subgrade, then placed 8 inches of 1-inch crushed-rock aggregate in two 4-inch lifts, compacting each lift. A separate crusher-dust bedding layer went on top before the pavers were laid and compacted.
This preparation supports drainage and helps reduce the risk of water-related movement. The gallery includes all 15 project photographs, followed by an annotated illustration of the intended drainage direction.
